Colbert Packaging serves as US beta site for Brausse 1060ER die cutter
The fully automated die cutter, developed with Bobst, converts printed sheets into stacks of cartons, ready for folding and gluing, making high-quality production more efficient.
Bobst Group
Brausse is a manufacturer of converting equipment for the printing and packaging industry and is a member of the Bobst Group.
“We were initially drawn to the Brausse 1060ER die cutter for its high speeds and inline stripping and full blanking capabilities,” said Tim Price, VP/GM, Colbert’s Elkhart facility.
“We run three shifts and lean heavily on our equipment. This die cutter is a workhorse – and now we have two.”
Colbert Packaging served as the US beta site for the Brausse 1060ER, as the machine made its debut in the US.
The partnership and beta site arrangement grew from discussions that originated during a meeting of the Independent Carton Group, of which Colbert is a member.
Colbert Packaging also recently installed Zünd G3 L-3200 cutting systems at its production facilities in Lake Forest, Illinois, and Elkhart, Indiana, for rapid turnarounds on production samples and short-run folding carton jobs.
Omnichannel commerce
“Business transformation continues to be spurred by a global economy, omnichannel commerce, geopolitical challenges, shifting consumer trends and social media proliferation. The pressure to remain relevant and outpace the competition is greater than ever before. We’ve seen it across every industry,” said John Lackner, president, Colbert Packaging.
Other key features of the Zünd G3 L-3200 include its ability to multitask by working on multiple zones, and its ability to accept a wide range of materials, including E-Flute, F-Flute and other paperboards.
The cutters enable Colbert to fulfill jobs ranging from a handful of samples to small production runs at a fraction of the cost of traditional production processes.
Lead times have significantly reduced and prototyping jobs can be turned around in a matter of hours.
